My Genius Investment Move at 17yo šŸ¤“

Hey there Healers!

When I was 17, I thought I had this whole money thing figured out.

I had just learned about compound interest…
and I remember thinking:

ā€œOh—this is how people get rich.ā€

So I took $100 from my movie theatre job and proudly put it into an RRSP.

I felt like a financial genius....and did nothing further....

Fast forward about 15 years…

My parents kept getting these statements in the mail and asking me:
ā€œAre you ever going to do something with this account?ā€

So I finally logged in to check it.

And my $100 had grown to…

$106.

Six dollars.

In fifteen years.

🫠

I remember sitting there thinking:

ā€œOkay… so compound interest is a scam.ā€

And honestly? I kind of gave up on the whole idea after that.

But here’s what I didn’t understand at the time:

šŸ‘‰ The money wasn’t actually invested.

It was just… sitting there.šŸ™ˆ

No one had ever explained that part to me.

That an RRSP isn’t the investment—
it’s just the container.

You still have to actually invest the money inside of it.

So for years, I thought I had ā€œtried investingā€ā€¦

When in reality, I had never actually started.

And this is where it gets a little uncomfortable (in the best way).

Because I recently did the math:

If I had invested just $100/week starting at 17…

By now, I’d have roughly:

šŸ‘‰ $240,000–$260,000

Of that:

  • About $115,000 would have been my own contributions

  • And roughly $130,000+ would have been growth

And if I had stopped contributing today and let that money just sit there and keep growing—without adding another dollar—

By age 65, it could be around:

šŸ‘‰ $1.1M–$1.3M

All from one consistent habit…
and time doing the heavy lifting.

Instead, I had $106.

Same person.
Same starting point.

Just missing one piece of knowledge.

And this is why I care so much about practitioners understanding this.

Because most practitioners aren’t behind because they’re bad with money…

They’re behind because no one ever taught them how this actually works.

And the good news? šŸ“°

You don’t need to go back to 17.

You don’t need to be perfect.

You just need to start… with the right information this time.

Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to show you what different amounts can actually turn into—

so you can see what’s possible from where you are right now.

And if you want help putting this into something real and structured in your own life,

This is exactly what we’re doing inside the Wellthy Practice Retreat (April 25–26).

We’re breaking this down in a way that actually makes sense—
so you can start making decisions from clarity, not guesswork.

For now, just take this with you:

It’s not that it’s too late.

It’s that no one showed you how.

With you in it,

Ā  One of the biggest shifts for me going from a larger clinic to solo practice? Losing my reception team. And I’ll be honest, this was not really something I was excited to "lose" For years, I had built my schedule around it: Back-to-back patients. Someone else answering calls. Someone else handling payments. Ā  Reception was essential to my practice. And I used to justify it as:ā€œIt lets me fo...

Ā  When I decided to shift back into solo practice, I had a whole story in my head about how it was going to feel.... šŸ’ I thought I’d miss the buzz of a bigger team.šŸ’ I thought I might feel like I was ā€œdowngrading"šŸ’ I even considered that I'd probably have to work more to make it all make sense financially. I built a dream clinic... then closed it down 🚧
Ā  There’s a version of success in our profession that most of us don’t really question. Ā  I call it the "Dream clinic" Ā  Think: Beautifully remodelled space. Rooms full of practitioners. Running integrative services and programs. Workshops. Ā  Over 14 years I built exactly that. I started in a 600 sq ft space across from a hospital.Ā Honestly, a bit chaotic, a bit unpredictable, but it was m...
