Money is a Skill 💸

Hey there Healers! 👋
I'm back from my art retreat in Egypt and all I can say is 🤯.
It was everything I hoped for — ancient temples covered in hieroglyphs, getting to go INSIDE the pyramid (yike 😅 I did NOT know what I signed up for!) and floating down the Nile painting Egyptian goddesses. Talk about a dream come true. ✨
But what surprised me most wasn’t Egypt.
It was how I felt there.
Calm.
Grounded.
Not preoccupied.
For the first time in maybe forever, I travelled without that subtle financial tension humming in the background.
And that didn’t happen by accident.
Over the past year, I made a decision to stop being “fine” with money and actually become skilled at it.
During COVID, when my clinic closed for 9 months, I took on significant loans and big time risks to keep my large multi-disciplinary clinic afloat. And like many clinic owners, some of those risks didn't pan out - and I'm not ashamed to say I still carrying some of that weight.
But last year, I really got to the "enough is enough" moment.
My problem wasn't making the money - and I had ZERO debt before COVID.
It was a reckoning with the COVID expenses that I was still paying for in 2025 (with some hefty interest!).
The shift came almost exactly a year ago when I decided I needed to stare down this money situation until it was fixed. For real. For good. Forever.
Not with a financial advisor.
Not by outsourcing it to fancy accountants. (been there 👎)
I actually signed up for a finance program and decided I was going to learn to do this myself..
👉 I learned basic literacy (like the difference between a stock and a bond - not gonna lie, your girl here didn't really know)
👉 How to set up and invest in retirement savings that now run on autopilot (I went from literally 2K in my RRSPs to now being on track to retire with well over 7 figures in that one account alone)
👉 I learned how to generate my OWN investment portfolio so I can live off the passive income far sooner than my "retirement age"
👉 I'm already set for next years taxes - and it's February 😅
And here’s the part that still surprises me:
It wasn’t complicated.
It wasn’t mystical.
I didn't even need to be "good at math"
It was a skill.
In the past year, I’ve paid down nearly 70K in debt while growing my household investments by tens of thousands of dollars — at the same time.
I know exactly when my remaining debt will be gone.
I know exactly where my money is.
I know what’s growing and why.
That level of clarity has changed how my nervous system is operating EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
Standing in Egypt, I realized the peace I was feeling wasn’t just spiritual.
It was structural.
And owning a clinic for as many years as I have, I’ve seen firsthand how much financial stress quietly weighs on practitioners.
We all learn to be great practitioners — but most of us aren't taught how money actually works.
So this month, I’m going to talk about it.
Honestly.
Openly.
Without shame.
Because financial literacy is not greed.
It’s stability.
It’s autonomy.
It’s vitality.
And on Saturday, I’m sharing something I’ve been building that will help you start developing these skills too — in a way that feels grounded, practical, and actually doable.
If you’ve ever thought,
“I should probably understand this better…”
but avoided it because it felt overwhelming?
You’re exactly who I’m thinking about.
More soon.
