Summer Heat, Heart Truths: The Fire Season Invitation đ„

Weâre deep into summer nowâand with it comes that unmistakable Fire energy.
Hot days. Big emotions. Restless nights. Full schedules. Wide-open hearts.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer belongs to the Heart â€
Itâs a season of connection, joy, truth, and expression.
But it can also bring up inflammationâphysical and emotionalâespecially when weâre not in rhythm with ourselves.
In my herbalism course đ± this summer, weâve been learning how the Fire element isnât just about outward expressionâitâs also about internal balance - especially when it comes to giving and receiving.
Itâs the part of us that wants to love fully but also protect whatâs sacred.
Itâs where circulation meets sensation.
And if that flow gets disruptedâŠ
You might see fatigue. Anxiety. Heart palpitations. Insomnia. Edginess.
Or just this low-grade sense that your nervous system is always âon.â
Sound familiar?
Iâve felt it too.
The more I pack into my calendar, the more my body whispers: Thatâs enough.
The more I override that voice, the louder it gets.
So Iâve been listening.
This summer, my heart has been asking me to:
đ Let go of relationships that donât feel aligned
đ Slow down, so joy has space to land
đ Choose rest over proving
đ Focus on the people and practices that nourish me deeply
And honestly?
The return has been so rich.
More clarity. Better sleep. Deeper connection in my marriage. And this quiet confidence that my practice doesnât need to be chaotic to be successful.
So I want to ask you:
What is your heart trying to tell you this season?
Not your mind. Not your âto-do list self.â
Your real, rooted heart. The one that wants more truth and less pressure.
Because when we work against the season, the body pushes back.
But when we listen to the heart, everything starts to flow again.
Stay cool out there. Hydrate. Take breaks. Soften your edges.
Let the heat show you whatâs realâand whatâs ready to be released.
With heart,
Gen
P.S. If your patients are feeling âoffâ right nowârestless, inflamed, anxiousâconsider the heartâs role in their symptoms. Summer is when heart energy asks for support. Treat the rhythm, treat the whole.
