Emotions aren’t in your head—they’re in your body 💭

This October I’m so excited to share my brand-new podcast—The Body Oracle! 🎙️

All month long, we’ll be diving into some of the game-changing conversations I’m covering there. If you’ve ever wanted an audio version of this newsletter—buckle up, because things are about to get fun 😍.

This podcast has been a dream of mine for years: a place to share with patients, fellow practitioners (and honestly the whole world) how emotions literally shape our physical experience—backed by solid science and embodied wisdom.

👉 This isn’t “woo-woo.” It’s about understanding the human experience from the physiology up—and using that understanding to guide our patients toward better health.

Most of your patients probably think emotions live in their brains. But here’s the truth: emotions are full-body physiological events.

Think about it—when someone feels joy, the body doesn’t just think happy thoughts. The whole system lights up:
💫 eyes squint into a smile
💫 joints and shoulders externally rotate
💫 the ventral vagus nerve regulates their autonomics, softening the face and breath

Joy isn’t just “in the mind”—it shows up in fascia, posture, hydration, tone, and even breath rhythm.

And it’s not just joy. Research shows people with depression often have less hydrated, more restricted fascia. Emotion literally changes the body’s tissues.

This concept is so clinically important that I’ll be presenting on it in a few weeks at the Osteopathic International Alliance Conference in Toronto (If you’ll be there, come nerd out with me—I’d love to meet you!)

As clinicians, remembering that emotions are embodied changes everything. It allows us to treat with more compassion, more precision, and ultimately help our patients get better outcomes.

🎧 This week on The Body Oracle, I dive into why emotions are just as physiological as digestion or respiration—and how to work with that wisdom in real life.

Your success CAN look different 🏅
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing more about my shift into solo practice. I'm not gonna' lie.... I fought the idea of "downsizing" for a while.  Probably several 10's of thousands of dollars too long.... I was straight up attached to a beautiful clinic space I had built out from the studs. I LIKED having people walk into my clinic and say "WOW!"It felt GOOD , and prestigious and suc...
👩🏻‍💼 What replaced my receptionist...
One of the biggest shifts for me going from a larger clinic to solo practice? Losing my reception team. And I’ll be honest, this was not really something I was excited to "lose" For years, I had built my schedule around it: Back-to-back patients. Someone else answering calls. Someone else handling payments.   Reception was essential to my practice. And I used to justify it as:“It lets me fo...
Flying Solo in practice 🪶
When I decided to shift back into solo practice, I had a whole story in my head about how it was going to feel.... 💭 I thought I’d miss the buzz of a bigger team.💭 I thought I might feel like I was “downgrading"💭 I even considered that I'd probably have to work more to make it all make sense financially.   And honestly? That’s not how it played out at all. What surprised me wasn’t what I los...
